Discover Heritage, Build History
The Twillingate Isles Wooden Boat Museum, established in July 2017, represents a labor of love by the Twillingate Isles Wooden Boat Builders Committee. Affiliated with the Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland and Labrador, this institution has a dual mission: preserving Twillingate’s boat building heritage and passing down these time-honored skills to future generations.
Housed within the historic St. Peter’s Anglican Parish Hall, the museum offers a compelling journey through Twillingate’s boat building history. On the lower level, visitors encounter a multitude of displays that vividly depict the evolution of boat craftsmanship in Twillingate. Meanwhile, the upstairs serves as a hands-on boat building workshop space, providing an immersive experience for enthusiasts.
The museum presents an opportunity to meet a local resident boat builder and engage in interactive workshops, available as half-day experiences or comprehensive three-day courses. Guided tours of the museum can also be arranged upon request, enriching the educational experience.
St. Peter's School
The museum is located in the historic St. Peter’s Anglican Parish Hall, which, early in the twentieth century was a school.
